made by Faneuil Watch Tool Co. about 1899, and sold by L. C.
Reisner (a jewelers supply house) of Lancaster,
Pennsylvania. Several other supply houses sold similar
lathes, (usually) with their own markings. |

Faneuil Watch Tool Co. Type 2b watchmakers lathe, made
from 1902 to 1905. Type 2c, made from 1905 to about 1910(?),
is identical to this except engraved "Rivett Lathe Mfg. Co."
Type 2d, if it exists, would be identical except engraved
"Rivett Lathe & Grinder Co.". Ideal lathes have larger
spindles and drawtubes, but look the same except on very
close examination. |
